About Event

Join us for From the Garden Window, a seed planting and tea blending workshop hosted in collaboration with Sarjesa and the Sunalta Community Association.

We'll gather at the Sunalta Community Hub on Saturday, June 13, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a slow, hands-on morning rooted in one of our favourite Calgary stories.

Sarjesa founder Alexandra started her tea company in her basement apartment right here in Sunalta, and the Balcony Blend, featuring calendula, lemon balm, chamomile, and cornflower, was born from that little space. This workshop brings it full circle.

You'll choose one seed variety from the balcony blend to plant and take home, then Alexandra will walk us through blending a custom herbal tea to keep. It's a great way to get your hands in soil, learn something new, and leave with a little bit of summer to grow on your windowsill.

✨ Your $55 ticket includes:

  • All planting materials and instruction

  • Seeds and a tea cup to plant them in

  • Tea to sip during the workshop

  • A custom herbal tea blend to take home

  • Unlimited yapping with new friends

Additional seed packets will also be available for purchase on the day.

$20 from every ticket goes directly to the Sunalta Community Association.

The Sunalta Community Association is taking a community-driven approach to addressing one of the core issues facing residents, food insecurity. As one of Calgary’s most diverse inner-city neighbourhoods, Sunalta is trying to work to bridge a gap in resources, as the community currently operates as a food desert, without access to local, healthy, affordable food within the community.

Through fundraising through events such as this one, you are helping The Sunalta Community Association provide programming and resources to help bridge the gap to food insecurity. Currently addressing the food insecurity through multiple gardening initiatives, resident-led food programs, and skill-sharing opportunities that empower neighbours to connect, cook, grow, we couldn’t do all of this without the support from you. By combining food access with community building, we are hoping to work together to build a better community.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1) Can I get a refund?
All ticket purchases are non-refundable. We understand plans can change, and while we’re not able to offer refunds, your ticket is transferable. You’re welcome to pass it along to an adult woman friend if you can no longer attend.

2) Are your events women-only?
Yes. Our events are intentionally created for adult women, and we do our best to protect that space. We know this kind of gathering isn’t for everyone, and there are many other wonderful social communities out there that may be a better fit. We’re grateful for your understanding and support.

3) Will there be photos or videos taken at the event?
Yes. We take photos and videos at our events to share with our community. If you’d prefer not to be included in any media, please let us know ahead of time, and we’ll do our best to make sure you’re not photographed or filmed.

4) I saw a charge from Sleek Edit on my credit card. Is that normal?
Yes, completely. Sleek Edit is the business that processes payments for Camellia Social Club events, so it’s normal for it to appear on your statement.
