About Event

Most non-technical founders building with AI coding tools have no idea what's actually in their codebase, or where it came from.

The models they use are trained on massive amounts of open-source code, and they can reproduce patterns, structure, and sometimes licensed code without you or anyone on your team realizing it.

That matters because some of that code carries licensing terms that follow you. A common open-source license requires that anything built on top of it also be made open-source, so if it ends up in your product and you don't know, you're carrying legal and IP risk you can't see.

For a founder, that's the kind of thing that surfaces in technical due diligence right when you're trying to close a round. And if your dev shop is the one using AI tools, you're exposed to a risk you didn't create.

This is exactly what played out in June, when Corgi, a $2.6B YC-backed insurtech startup, was publicly accused of copying an open-source competitor's product. Read more about what went down here.

Their defense was that they didn't steal any code; they just leaned too heavily on vibe coding, and the AI reproduced the other product's look, feel, and wording on its own.

The competitor's software was under a license requiring anything built on it to also be open-sourced. The dispute is still unresolved, but it puts a question in front of every founder shipping AI-assisted code: do you actually know what's in your codebase, and where it came from?

In this session, Samuel Corso, founder of TechSuite and a fintech engineering leader who runs AI-assisted development across every project, will break down the risk and walk through what to check in your own build before it costs you.

What we'll cover:

- How AI-generated code can quietly introduce licensing and IP risk, explained without the jargon

- What the Corgi controversy actually teaches founders shipping AI-assisted code

- The specific questions to ask your dev team about where your code comes from

- What technical due diligence looks for, and how licensing issues can stall a raise

- Practical steps to audit your codebase before it becomes a liability

Who this is for:

Non-technical founders building with AI tools or working with a dev shop that does, and early-stage CTOs who want a cleaner answer to "where did this code come from" before their next round.

Bring your questions! We'll leave time at the end for a live Q&A.
