​Block Printing Workshop Series: Carve + Print

​Block printing is one of the oldest forms of printmaking — a simple, yet powerful technique used for centuries to create repeating patterns on textiles, paper, and books.

​In our two-part workshop series, you’ll design and carve your own printing block, then return the following week to bring it to life through hand printing.

​Night One, April 2nd (6-8pm): Carving Your Block
We’ll begin with a short introduction to the history of block printing, including the rich tradition of Indian block printed textiles. Afterward, you’ll sketch a simple design and learn how to carve your own relief block using traditional printmaking tools.

​Night Two, April 9th (6-8pm): Printing Your Design
Return the following week to print your carved block onto your choice of substrate: a canvas tote bag or a set of greeting cards. We’ll explore layering, pattern building, and how to get crisp, beautiful prints.

​By the end of the series, you’ll leave with your own reusable printing block and a set of handmade prints.

​Extra Notes:

• ​No prior experience required — beginners are very welcome!

• ​All materials + guided instruction provided 😊

• ​Ages 16+ (carving tools will be used)
