A telescope is leaving Earth, and we are watching it go. 🚀 On Sunday morning a Falcon Heavy lifts off from Kennedy Space Center carrying the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, NASA's next great observatory. We are opening the rooftop early, putting the launch on the big screen, and having breakfast while it happens.

Why this one matters Roman carries a mirror the same size as Hubble's, but it sees about 100 times more sky in a single shot. Over five years it will image more than a billion galaxies and measure how the universe has expanded across cosmic time. That is the point. Roman was built to go after dark energy, the thing pulling the universe apart faster and faster, which we can measure but still cannot explain. It will also hunt exoplanets by watching starlight bend, and it is expected to find more worlds than every telescope in history combined. And this one is personal We saw Roman being built. In the actual clean room at NASA Goddard, in Maryland, before it ever left the ground.

Watching it launch from our own rooftop hits different when you have stood next to it. Bonus 🐾🎂

It is Juno's birthday the same day. Yes, named after NASA's Juno spacecraft, the one orbiting Jupiter. Come throw him a birthday ball.

Builder, founder, or just someone who looks up, you're part of this. 🗓 Sunday, August 30, 2026 · 7:30am to 10:00am 📍 Founder Haus Beach Club, Jurerê Internacional, Florianópolis ☕ Free entry for everyone, sponsored by MoonDAO · Registration required, and every one is reviewed

---- Agenda ---- 7:30am · Doors open Coffee, breakfast, and the countdown already running on the screen. 8:00am · What we are about to watch A short briefing on Roman, what it does and why the launch window matters. 8:26am · Liftoff Falcon Heavy from Launch Complex 39A. Times shift, so we follow the live feed. 9:00am · Separation and first signals We stay for the milestones that tell us the mission is alive. 10:00am · Hard stop Back to building the future of human resilience. ---- If the launch slips ---- Rockets get scrubbed for wind, for a boat in the range, for anything. If Roman does not fly on Sunday, we still meet. The coffee is the same, the telescope is still real, and we watch the next window together. ---- Access & Passports ---- Entry is free for everyone, sponsored by MoonDAO. There is no paid ticket for this one. Seats are limited and every registration is reviewed, so register early rather than deciding on the morning. Language: English. Food and drinks included. Please present your digital pass at the entrance. ---- The people behind it ---- MoonDAO is an international collective of people united by the mission of decentralizing access to space research and exploration. The Moon Founder's Club at Founder Haus runs in partnership with them. Magic Island is a month-long popup city in Florianópolis, Brazil. Every August, founders, builders, and investors land on the island for hackathons, dinners, meetups, and open days. Founder Haus Beach Club is a private club for founders who build and builders who found. As part of the Founder Village infrastructure, developed and co-owned by founders for founders, we are transforming the neighborhood of Jurerê Internacional into the village we want to live in, share with like-minded families, and co-own as a community. The Moon is not the ceiling. It's the floor. 🌕
