This event is a public participation session designed to shape Kenya’s upcoming National AI & Emerging Technologies Policy (2026) by gathering structured insights directly from the innovator community. Co-hosted by the Institute of Design and Innovation (IDI) and Action Lab, the session focuses on bridging the gap between high-level policy and real-world implementation.
Event Overview
Theme: From Ideas to Implementation: What Kenya’s AI & Emerging Technologies Policy Must Get Right for Innovators.
Goal: To move beyond general commentary and generate actionable insights regarding opportunities, barriers, and risks in the tech ecosystem.
Target Audience: Particularly focused on young innovators (ages 18–35) from across Kenya.
Agenda Highlights
The session is structured as a 2-hour interactive webinar:
Context & Panel Discussion: A deep dive into the current ecosystem to establish a shared baseline and highlight key trade-offs.
Thematic Breakouts: Participants will join one of three tracks to discuss specific focus areas:
Building High-Impact Solutions: Research, innovation, and sectoral applications.
Trust, Safety & Responsible Use: Ethics and safeguarding.
Future of Work: Skills and capacity development for the next generation.
Plenary & Share-back: Rapporteurs will present recommendations to the full group for open discussion.
