Alcove Goes to Letra Muerta feat. Lucia Bawot
Come along with us as we head to Williamsburg to explore the hidden world of Letra Muerta & sip some delicious hand-brewed coffee.
Letra Muerta is a design studio, archive & reading room that that celebrates Venezuelan history, design, and literature, as well as books and ephemera from Latin America, the Caribbean, and their diasporas.
We’ll meet the brilliant & thoughtful team, Faride Mereb, Oriana Nuzzi and Keyla Benitez as they guide us through their collection and share stories behind the studio.
We’ll also be joined by special guest, Lucia Bawot, as she pours coffee from Colombia and chats about her book, “We Belong” on its 3rd anniversary of release, that brings to light the life stories of 25 Colombian women coffee farmers and pickers.
This is an invite-only secret Alcove that we've been dreaming up for quite some time, and we're so grateful to the Letra Muerta team for graciously sharing their studio with us on the weekend.
What you can expect
To accommodate this intentionally smaller event, we're offering two timed group slots — from 11-1pm & 1-3pm. Space is limited, so invite a friend or two and choose the session that works best!
We'll begin with light coffee service and opening remarks, then an opportunity for each session group to explore the space, socialize and learn from our hosts. Books will be available for purchase.
Can't wait for you to join us on the March 14th! ~ Josiah
