An Evening with Kija Lucas
If you’ve walked through Local Economy’s doors even once, you’ve experienced the extraordinary presence of lifelong Bay Area resident and artist Kija Lucas’s work. Join us as we celebrate her pieces and reflect on what her art has meant during our whirlwind first months as a community space.
We’ll spend the evening with Kija in conversation about how to support artists and the arts in these unusual times. The Bay Area is known for its rich culture, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. While some industries make their value clear in dollars and stock prices, the arts are often treated as secondary, even though they are part of why we choose to live here at all.
We will talk about what meaningful support looks like, how to recognize real opportunities for artists, how to find artwork you love, and how to support organizations and discover new artists along the way. Without artists and the arts, things get pretty boring, and we are not here for boring.
This evening is for collectors and the art curious, anyone with wall space to fill, community and civic leaders, board members, funders, business owners, and anyone who cares about creativity and the future of the art!
