​As more Australians interact with AI in everyday services, organisations working in public purpose contexts need practical ways to design and deploy tools that are useful, trusted and fit for purpose. This session will explore what it takes to move from an idea to a working AI tool in a public sector context, including how teams can build confidence, prepare the right business case, and put in place the systems and safeguards needed to get AI projects off the ground.

​The session will draw on the experience of Josh Maher, Director of IPA Ventures, who will share how IPA Ventures created the IP First Response Chat Bot. It will also include insights from Portable, Innovation Partner for Public Good, on working with governments to build the case for designing, developing and deploying public-facing AI tools.
