HackTalk: Eugene Bagdasarian and Mason Nakamura

Eugene Bagdasarian opens the session, then Mason Nakamura gives a hands-on lecture and demo of their Colosseum framework, followed by a joint Q&A.

Eugene Bagdasarian is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at UMass Amherst, where he co-leads the AI Security Lab and the AI Safety Initiative. He is also a part-time senior research scientist at Google, working on agentic privacy and security. His group studies security and privacy attacks on AI systems deployed in the real world, including multi-agent systems, where their Colosseum framework finds new collusion artifacts. He completed his PhD at Cornell Tech, and his work received a USENIX Security 2024 Distinguished Paper Award.

Mason Nakamura is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Computer Science at UMass Amherst, working in the College of Information and Computer Sciences (CICS) as a member of the Resource-Bounded Reasoning Lab, under the guidance of Professor Shlomo Zilberstein. His research is funded by the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, where he works on multi-agent safety and alignment.

Format: talk + live demo + Q&A, about 75 minutes. Online (Zoom); the Zoom link is shown once you RSVP.

Part of the AI Collusion Research Sprint, October 23-25, online and at hubs in New York City and Hong Kong. Co-organized by Apart Research, Poseidon Research and AE Studio, sponsored by Modal, The AI Alignment Foundation and Nebius.
