This Month's Talk: Being the Adult in the Room
Ethics, Oversight, and Responsible AI
AI is powerful, but it doesn't govern itself. Someone has to be the adult in the room. This talk explores what responsible AI looks like in practice: how organizations are building oversight, making ethical decisions, and avoiding costly mistakes. We'll touch on global standards like IEEE 2247.4, but you don't need a technical background to follow along. If you're leading, advising, or just thinking critically about AI, this one's for you.
Speaker: Jeanine A. DeFalco, PhD
Jeanine is a learning scientist, AI leader, and CEO of Mixta, Inc., focused on building ethically aligned, competency-based AI systems. She is Vice Chair of the IEEE AI Standards Committee and Chair of IEEE 2247.4, a global standard for ethical AI in adaptive systems. With over a decade of experience across academia, industry, and defense, she works at the intersection of AI, ethics, and measurable performance.
