How do products like Cursor, Harvey, or Gavel actually implement “agents”?
In this technical founder session, Pierre Martin, CTO and co-founder of Gavel, will unpack the architecture behind legal AI agents: how a controlled workspace of files becomes a structured context layer; how narrow workflow agents retrieve, reason, cite, and produce reviewable work; and where the boundary sits between deterministic systems and model-driven autonomy. Drawing from Gavel’s work building “Cursor for lawyers,” Pierre will show how legal AI moves beyond chat-with-documents into repeatable, traceable workflows: extracting key terms, drafting from precedent, checking diligence lists, grounding outputs in hybrid search, capturing human review, and turning expert judgment into reusable systems. The session is aimed at technical founders and builders who want to understand the practical product and infrastructure patterns behind agentic software in high-stakes domains."
