Policy Report Launch — Guidance for Policymakers: Enhancing Resilience with Green-Gray Infrastructure
Green-gray infrastructure (GGI)—the integration of green, nature-based solutions with gray, engineered structures—offers a pragmatic, cost effective pathway to strengthen climatic resilience and adaptation while delivering social, economic, and environmental benefits. Despite its proven benefits, GGI approaches remain underutilized due to persistent policy, regulatory, financial, and institutional barriers.
Join the Global Green-Gray Community of Practice for a webinar exploring the role of national policy instruments in incentivizing and unlocking GGI solutions, as detailed in the new publication "Guidance for Policymakers: Enhancing Resilience with Green-Gray Infrastructure". The session will examine practical approaches to overcome implementation barriers, introduce a framework for conducting national policy analysis, and showcase case studies demonstrating how GGI can be advanced as a national-scale priority.
Webinar Objectives
Increase awareness and understanding of Green-Gray Infrastructure (GGI) as a proven approach for delivering climate mitigation, adaptation, and other benefits.
Accelerate the uptake and mainstreaming of GGI by equipping policymakers and other stakeholders with the tools and frameworks to identify and overcome existing policy, regulatory, and financial barriers
Demonstrate how enabling policy and regulatory environments support on-the-ground implementation through featured case studies that highlight shared success factors while underscoring the need to tailor policies and projects to country-specific contexts, communities, and ecosystems.
Foster knowledge exchange and capacity building to support integration of GGI into national priorities, strengthen inclusive stakeholder engagement, and connect participants to collaboration opportunities through the Global Green-Gray Community of Practice (G3CoP).
About the Global Green-Gray Community of Practice (G3CoP)
The G3CoP is a global platform convened by Conservation International that brings together practitioners, policymakers, and researchers working to advance the application of green–gray infrastructure for climate adaptation. The community focuses on sharing practical knowledge, strengthening capacity, and supporting the integration of nature-based and hybrid solutions into infrastructure planning and investment.
