Built a healthy soil ahead of the rainy season with compost and mulch. Compost and soil help sequester carbon into the ground. They provide a natural way to feed the plant and conserve water.

Cost: Free
Entrance fees waived only for compost and mulch pick-up.
Description:
All week, stop by San Dieguito County Park to pick up free mulch and compost from San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation. Take it home to build healthier soil, conserve water, and keep material out of the landfill, small, practical choices that add up across a region working toward real climate resilience. It's DPR's quieter kind of stewardship, turning what the land gives back into something that keeps giving, the same instinct that has guided this department and its commitment to the community for 80 years.

Bring your own shovels, containers, buckets, or truck bed and tarp.
