Top line first: The LA Phil just released $25 tix in its Orchestra View section for this concert, so if you want to attend, you need to go get yours RIGHT NOW before they all sell out. Regular ticket prices are $100+. Orchestra View is directly behind the orchestra, so close you can read the score — the best seats in the house. In other words, an epic steal.
In addition, it's the first concert of the season conducted by Daniel Harding, the new Music Director of the LA Phil. In this Casual Friday concert, he'll be conducting the Brahms Piano Concerto No 2 in B-flat major, one of my favorite pieces of all time, and an utterly monumental work of art. Pianist Leif Ove Andsnes always rocks the house.
As if you needed more reasons to attend, for this Casual Friday, there will also be a free beer and cider tasting afterwards, where you can meet the musicians.
If you're curious about classical music but have little experience with it, LA Phil Casual Friday concerts are designed for you. With the shorter format and free booze-and-schmooze après concert, they're an ideal entry point for the newbie. Also, at roughly 1/40 the cost of a Taylor Swift ticket, affordable AF.
Sign up here for headcount, get your tickets, and meet us at the concert for intermission and socializing afterwards.
