Pick Your Fighter: Deciding Between Skills, GPTs, Tasks and Agents

​You know what you want AI to do, but now you have to decide whether it should be a skill, GPT, task, hook, plugin, or agent, and the answer can change depending on whether you’re working in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, or somewhere else. The names overlap, the features don’t line up perfectly, and more than one option might work.

We’ll build a few examples more than one way and talk through why you might choose one, combine a few, or stop before you’ve built way too much.
