This interactive session presents cutting-edge research and practical demonstrations of how Extended Reality (AR/VR) and Digital Twin technology are transforming the way we design, plan and manage buildings, neighbourhoods and cities.

Featured Speakers

Dr. Avar Almukhtar

Associate Professor of Digital Technologies and Urban Design at Oxford Brookes University, His research explores how Extended Reality (AR/VR) and Digital Twin technologies can make urban design and planning more participatory, inclusive and climate-resilient. He leads XR-based funded research in Oxford, London and collaborates on projects across several European cities, working with communities, local authorities and interdisciplinary teams to reimagine how people engage with the built environment.

Muhammad Shahzad

Muhammad Shahzad is a PhD researcher at Oxford Brookes University working on Digital Twin and Mixed Reality technologies for building operations and maintenance. His research explores immersive real-time visualisation of sensor data using Game Engines (i.e., Unity) and IoT technologies to support smarter and more interactive building management.
