About Event

On the full moon, Hoi An's Ancient Town switches off its electric lights and glows by lantern alone. Silk lanterns fill every lane, families set paper lotus candles adrift on the Hoài River, and the old quarter comes alive with traditional music and games. This night also marks Vu Lan, the Buddhist festival honouring parents and ancestors, so the evening is both festive and tender. One of the most memorable nights a worldschooling family can share in central Vietnam. Lights dim around 6pm and the celebration runs until about 10pm.
