The infrastructure behind cross-border payments is being rebuilt. Instant schemes have become the domestic default,licensing has turned into a competitive moat rather than a cost of entry and regulated stablecoin settlement has moved from pilot to production.
In practice, this is less a technology story than a capital story: how much money a payment company has to leave sitting in accounts around the world, how long it takes to get it back and who decides whether you get access to a clearing scheme in the first place.
During the breakfast we will look at these questions from a Hungarian angle, what it means to build from a non-euro market, where that is a constraint and where it is an opening.
