Farm to Clinic Tour: Where Sustainable Agriculture Meets Community Health
Come spend your afternoon outside at Marra Farm for a tour that brings fresh food, sustainable agriculture, and everyday health together in one place. We will walk through Solid Ground's Giving Garden, learn how local urban farming works up close, and talk about why access to fresh, nourishing food improves health.
In many Seattle communities, fresh and affordable produce remains out of reach. Local food systems like the one thriving at Marra Farm are not just about growing vegetables, they are about building equity. When food is grown close to home and distributed through trusted community channels, it reaches the people who have historically had the least access to it: low-income families, recent immigrants, seniors, and others navigating the real barriers of cost, transportation, and time. Urban farms are a frontline response to food insecurity, and they work because communities show up for one another.
The event will include a tour of the farm, information on farming practices and how these programs are aided by government programs. Nutritionists from Sea Mar will explain the importance of healthy accessible food and how their Food Farmacia program aims to improve the health of the community.
This is a great chance to get a clearer picture of the programs and partnerships that help make all of this possible, from growing food locally to supporting healthier families and neighborhoods. Whether you are curious about urban farming, sustainable agriculture, nutrition education, or the work happening behind the scenes to keep these efforts going, you will leave with new knowledge, a fresh perspective, and a deeper appreciation for what can grow when people invest in one another.
