Screening: Arrest the Midwife
Please join us for a screening and discussion of "Arrest the Midwife," which follows Amish and Mennonite women who break from tradition and emerge as fierce political activists — joining the broader fight for reproductive justice.
Midwives fill critical gaps in care, especially in rural and underserved communities. The midwifery model of care centers trust, informed consent, and personalized support—reducing trauma and saving lives. Expanding access to midwives can close care gaps and restore choice and agency in birth.
But midwives still face barriers.
Licensure and reimbursement rates vary by state, leaving many unable to practice legally and sustainably. A Certified Professional Midwife celebrated in one state can be criminalized just across the border.
