Limen Studio: Graphic, Motion, Type & Set Designers
A quiet day of focused work in Amsterdam for people who make images, with other designers to talk to in the breaks. Image and art directors welcome too.
Most freelance designers work alone at home, and client work always comes first. The personal project, the portfolio update, the type specimen you started last year all wait. Here you work at one table with a small group of visual people. Nobody talks during work blocks. In the breaks you can show your screen to people who actually see the kerning, the timing, the light. Your first session is free.
What you get
One thing finished. Say out loud what you’ll do today, and that small promise keeps you on it. A full day gives about 5 hours of focus.
Eyes that understand your craft. Quick, honest feedback from designers in other fields: a motion designer on your type, a set designer on your frame.
Work that moves between people. Most design work comes through people who know you. Come a few times, and the room starts passing on projects that are too big, too small or outside their field.
Who it’s for
Freelance and independent graphic, motion, type and set designers, image and art directors, and studio owners who work mostly alone.
Come at the start of any block, leave at the end of any block. One sentence when you arrive, one when you leave. If the group is in flow, a block can run longer.
The group
Small on purpose. Ideally six at one table, never more than ten.
