AI in Education Meetup #12
August has that strange edge: still summer, but September is already in the room.
ED + AI is gathering educators, students, parents, youth workers, builders, and curious neighbours to bring the real questions before t
he school year starts moving fast.
September has a way of arriving all at once.
The browser tabs multiply. The policies get interpreted differently by every person in the building. Students show up with new habits. Parents have questions. Educators are expected to have clarity before anyone has had enough time to build it.
So before the bell rings, we’re getting in the same room.
ED + AI #12 is a practical, human-first conversation about what we want the next school year to feel like in an AI-saturated world.
Bring the tough question.
Bring the thing you’re worried about.
Bring the tool you’re testing.
Bring the student workaround you saw coming.
Bring the parent concern, classroom norm, youth-program experiment, policy confusion, creative assignment, assessment problem, or big idea that needs other brains around it.
We’ll talk about AI without pretending it’s either magic or doom.
The questions on the table:
What should students actually know about using AI with integrity?
How do we talk about AI without turning learning into surveillance?
What belongs in a classroom AI agreement?
Where do consent, privacy, and youth data need clearer boundaries?
What do educators need before September, besides “more training”?
What are students already doing that adults should understand better?
How do we protect curiosity, confidence, relationships, and care while the tools keep changing?
This is not a policy seminar. It’s not a product pitch. It’s a community kitchen for the people living the transition in real time.
What to expect
Open conversation around real education + AI questions
Space to share tools, workflows, prompts, projects, and experiments
Honest talk about consent, equity, workload, assessment, creativity, and student agency
Small-group discussion so everyone actually gets to talk
A practical community vibe: more kitchen table than conference stage
