Group Gawking: Athena + Owlets former nesting site
The goal was to visit Athena. Athena had other opinions.
This will now be a moment to pay our respects at the former nesting site, then share a roughly 1 mile stroll with each other.
For context: 2026 TIMELINE
March 4: Athena arrived to the nest.
March 5: Athena laid her first egg.
March 9: Athena laid her second egg.
April 8: First owlet hatched.
April 10: Second owlet hatched.
**April 19: The nest has been abanonded, and the one remaining owlet is in Wildlife Rehab offsite
April 26: ATX Outsiders visits to nod/pay respects to the nesting spot
Our agenda:
1:00pm Meet at Athena's former nesting site, at the threshold of the Wildflower Center Central Complex
1:15pm Intros all around + a 1-mile Arboretum Trail stroll, with emphasis on being curious about plants
2:00pm Choose your own adventure
Know before you go:
+Pay your own admission (~$18), either online or at the Admissions Kiosk
+This is as kid-friendly as any ATX Outsiders event could hope to be--there'll be plenty of space to peel off for feral toddlers.
+ The Spring Native Plant Sale is also on April 26, with final entry at 12:30pm. I fully support you pre-gaming with our native pals
