Retrofiting a Green-Gray Seawall in Nabukadra, Fiji
On this session, GHD will present to the Global Green-Gray Community of Practice (G3CoP) on their work retrofiting an existing seawall in Nabukadra Village, Fiji, using a green–gray infrastructure approach.
GHD will walk through the full design and decision-making process — including how coastal risks were assessed in the local context, how different intervention options were developed and evaluated, and how community engagement informed the final design.
The session will also reflect on how technical, environmental, and social considerations were balanced in practice.

– Development and assessment of GGI design options
– Role of community engagement in shaping the intervention
– Trade-offs and criteria used to select the preferred solution
– Implementation considerations and lessons learned
