DFS Words Amharic Lexicon Validation Session
Greetings!
Local Words for Digital Finance: What Do You Think?
Digital Financial Services (DFS) are rapidly expanding in Ethiopia, but language barriers and cultural nuance still limit understanding and adoption. Shega, as part of the AKOADA Project, has been working on the localization and translation of Digital Financial Services (DFS) terminology into Amharic and Afan Oromo.
This work is about turning complex finance and tech terms into clear, culturally relevant language that helps improve financial literacy and makes DFS more accessible for everyone. It is also about reviewing existing translations, correcting inconsistencies, and ensuring that the language used in Ethiopia’s DFS ecosystem is accurate, consistent, and easy to understand.
We have been translating Digital Financial Service terminology into local languages, and now it’s time to gather your invaluable feedback on the Amharic translation done. We will have a validation session on Jan 29th @2:30pm at Shega Office.
This session marks the final phase of our translation efforts, where we’ll present work done so far get your final inputs. Whether you’ve been involved in previous phases or are new to the project, your insights will help us publish accurate and accessible language resources
