Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology (aka Web3) has been front and center in national news over the last year. Over $200 billion moves through crypto markets daily, and it's becoming part of people's everyday lives quickly. All journalists have a role in explaining it, scrutinizing what happens, and adopting some of the technology themselves to protect the press. But the complexity of the topic has created a barrier that's kept many newsrooms from diving in.
Luckily, Denver is home to one of the biggest crypto events in the US—ETHDenver (Feb 15-21)—and there's an active community year-round in Colorado. I reported news in Colorado before moving into crypto events and content and have spent the last two years building relationships across crypto journalism and the broader Web3 community. So, with my friends at the Future of Web3 (FW3) and support from the Denver Press Club, I'm hosting a free AMA on February 10 to connect Colorado journalists with the Web3 community.

FYI: No dumb questions! Blockchain and cryptocurrency are not the same; blockchain is the underlying technology (a secure, shared digital ledger) that enables cryptocurrencies (digital money), but blockchain has many other applications beyond just digital money. Think of blockchain as the internet and cryptocurrency as email – email uses the internet, but the internet does much more.
