Lagoon and Learn: A Blue Carbon Walk around Batiquitos Lagoon

​Join WILDCOAST and our partners from the Blue Carbon Collaborative, Coastal Quest, and the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation for a captivating exploration of San Diego's unique coastal lagoon ecosystems. This special event invites you to discover the hidden power of blue carbon—the carbon stored in coastal and marine ecosystems. 

​Join Tito Marchant, WILDCOAST's Senior Director of Conservation and Rewilding, who will discuss blue carbon's role as a vital tool in the fight against climate change, its direct relation to the beautiful Batiquitos Lagoon, and the restoration and rewilding techniques being used at this site and beyond.

​Following the talk, you'll get to see this work in action! We'll embark on a guided 2.75-mile round-trip hike along the picturesque banks of the Batiquitos Lagoon. You'll see firsthand the remarkable restoration efforts underway and learn how these projects are helping to conserve and rewild our coastal habitats.
