​The Bay Area is hosting a Chaupal

​We're doing something that has never happened in the US before! Goonj Bay Area supporters are bringing the very first US Chaupal to life.

​For 27 years, Goonj has pioneered one of the world’s most innovative models for global development. Since 2014, the organization has mobilized more than 72 million kgs of urban surplus material. Instead of turning into waste, it was leveraged to spark 110,000+ community-led development projects impacting over 20 million people across India.

​Every year in India, Goonj volunteers host Chaupals (community gathering spaces) in every major city. A Chaupal is where socially conscious individuals and families come together to engage with the most pressing issues of our time in an inclusive, thought-provoking, and yes, fun environment.

​The motto: "Zaroori batein, halke mahaul mein" Real conversations, in a light atmosphere.

​Anshu Gupta, Magsaysay awardee and Founder of Goonj and Gram Swabhimaan will be our special guest for this inaugural US Chaupal!

​If you're interested in Social development, Sustainability & Circularity and/or Climate, this is a conversation you'll want to be a part of.
