About Event

In this discussion, you'll gain a better understanding of the challenges of aging and share ideas on how to support ourselves and our loved ones.

As people get older, their lives change in many ways. These changes can be hard. Our bodies might not feel as strong, and we might face new health problems. Our minds can also change, like finding it harder to remember things. Socially, things like retirement or losing friends can sometimes make people feel lonely. This discussion will explore these common difficulties honestly.

These meetings are a perfect opportunity to practice your spoken English fluency and connect with other like-minded learners.

  1. When you think about "aging," what is the first physical change that comes to your mind?

  2. Why do you think small, everyday tasks (like opening a jar or climbing stairs) can become major challenges for older adults?

  3. We often talk about diet and exercise. Besides these, what is one thing people underestimate about protecting their physical health as they age?

🧠 The Mental & Emotional Landscape

  1. What do you think is the biggest difference between "forgetfulness" (like losing keys) and serious memory loss (like dementia)?

  4. What is more frightening to you: your body aging or your mind aging? Why?

👥 On the Social World

  1. How does the challenge of loneliness for an older person differ from the loneliness a younger person might feel?

  2. Think about the technology we use every day (smartphones, banking apps). How can these be a challenge for an older person?
