WA Dept. of Ecology Recycling Refunds Study - King County Info Session

​The Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) is studying whether a recycling refund program (sometimes called a bottle bill or deposit return system) could help improve recycling, reduce litter, and make it easier for people to return bottles and cans in Washington State.

​A recycling refund program means people pay a small deposit when buying certain beverages and then receive the deposit back when they return the empty container for recycling. Earlier this year, we heard from community members, community-based organizations, local governments, retailers, beverage producers, recycling operators, and others across the state.

​Now we’re sharing what we’ve learned and inviting public comment. Join us to learn what we’ve heard so far, ask questions, and find out how to participate in the public comment period.

​All King County residents are welcome to join. Registration is encouraged but not required. Refreshments will be provided. Free on-site and street parking is available.

​Participants at any of the sessions will be entered into a raffle for prizes. Spanish interpretation will be available.
