Celebration Of Lights Dinner Party🪔

​Welcome to our Celebration of Lights dinner party✨🫶🏾 inspired by the South Asian festival of Diwali; Pallavi and I wanted to make an intentional space where we could celebrate light, victory, and hope. Diwali, unbeknownst to many, carries a heavy history of caste discrimination and exclusion. In this dinner party, we would like to center and celebrate the victories and voices of Dalit and Indigenous (in India known as Adivasi) communities.

​For food, this will be a potluck! We encourage you to bring any South Asian dish!☺️ it can be veggie, chicken, goat, beef - whatever your heart desires!!

​For clothing, feel free to wear any South Asian clothes you may have!! If you don’t have any, we encourage you to wear maximalist colors!!

​We’ll also have a garland making station featuring materials foraged from our East Bay ecosystem. Adapting the marigold tradition to plants that are local to the bay. 🍁
