About Event

Climate change is making wildfires more frequent and severe in San Diego, which is directly impacting homeowners. As wildfire risk increases, insurance premiums are rising, making it harder for people to afford and maintain their homes in an already expensive market. Our work with CalFire and other partners uses data and research to help communities build resilience through practical mitigation strategies.

  • Climate & Risk: Trends in climate, such as increased heat and drought, are leading to more frequent and intense wildfires in San Diego County.

  • Impact on Homeowners: This rising risk is causing homeowners insurance costs to increase, adding to housing affordability issues.

  • Solutions: Our organizations use data and partnerships with government and community groups to help communities prepare for and mitigate wildfire risk.

Led by Cotality’s Hazard Science & Analytics Team, featuring UCSD Professor, Falko Kuester.
