California State Senate Judicial Hearing on 3D Printing

​This is the live stream from the California State Senate. The hearing starts at 9:30am PST. The bill AB 2047 is 9th on the list, however it is done in order filed that day. The bill is expected to be called in the first few hours.

It's best to watch from the start and see how that transpires. The author of the bill, Assembly Member Bauer-Kahan, has other bills as well as this one, so it will be grouped with those as long as all witnesses are in place.

Two witness will be present in opposition for this bill:

​Marleen Vogelaar: CEO of Thangs 3D and Shapeways. Marleen is an expert in the field and has direct experience with the Physna volumetric search proposed by Everytown.

David Tobin: Executive Producer of 3D Printing Nerd and Executive Director of the Community Manufacturing Initiative. David is leading the effort in California and pulled the joint support of the global 3D Printing community together in opposition of the bill.

This is another step in the process in American State legislature. The Public Safety hearing is the following week.

The bill has been amended twice. Each amendment is another few teeth getting knocked out and a victory. It's a process, and your voice matters and believe it or not, it's being heard.

A heads up for Tuesday...

The California State Senate streams live video and audio from all Floor Sessions and all regularly scheduled Committee Hearings.  At any given time the Senate can stream up to 6 different events.  Two of these live streams are fully produced programs with live camera switching and graphics. The other four live streams are camera wide views from the back of the Committee Rooms. After the completion of a Floor Session or Committee Hearing, video is made available for viewing from the Media Archive page.
