Urblandia | SALONS | MIA — Joseph Margulies — Real Estate Development Branding and Design
Urblandia SALON is a monthly series, in-person forum designed to foster strategic partnerships across the real estate ecosystem. Each salon convenes architects, developers, engineers, interior designers, planners, place makers, and city-builders for curated conversations on the current state of new urbanism and the future of the built environment—wherever real estate shapes people and planet. Select gatherings feature guest speakers and practitioners sharing real-world insights to spark discussion and collaboration.
Format: short talk or guest perspective, moderated discussion, and peer connection.
Joseph Margulies is a creative director and founder of Margulies Design, a branding and design practice working across real estate, hospitality, and cultural projects. Raised in Miami with early exposure to both fine art and real estate development, his work reflects an ongoing dialogue between architecture, commerce, and culture.
After more than a decade working in New York City, Margulies collaborated with leading luxury and cultural institutions including the Brooklyn Museum, the Flatiron Building, Surface Magazine, the Deste Foundation, David Zwirner Books, and Phaidon. In Miami, projects have included work with Auberge Collection, Four Seasons, Rilea Group, Witkoff, and Urbanica, alongside architects such as Robert A.M. Stern, Arquitectonica, and David Chipperfield, on the branding and positioning of residential and mixed-use properties.
His multidisciplinary practice spans identity systems, publication design, packaging, custom typography, and cinematic CGI visualization. The approach is both refined and experimental, balancing rigorous strategy with a sensitivity to atmosphere, narrative, and place, particularly within architecture-driven and experience-based environments. Margulies also serves on the board of the Lotus House homeless shelter for women and children.
Urblandia salons are intentionally structured to support cross-disciplinary partnership, helping participants identify aligned collaborators, form project teams, and pursue opportunities that extend beyond geographic boundaries. Grounded in circular economy principles, human-centered design thinking, and nature-adaptive best practices, these gatherings prioritize long-term value creation through stronger relationships, smarter projects, and more resilient places.
