Post‑16 Connecting Families: Exploring Volunteering
Post‑16 Connecting Families: Exploring Volunteering
Parents and carers of post‑16 young people – join us for an online session exploring volunteering opportunities and how they can support future goals and independence.
Volunteering can be a valuable experience for young people, helping them build confidence and develop new skills. This session has been designed to help parents and carers understand how to identify suitable opportunities and organisations and support young people to advocate for themselves when applying for roles.
We'll be joined by RSBC's Futures Specialist and RSBC's Volunteering and Activities Manager who will share advice and answer your questions. We'll also be joined by a young person with VI who is currently volunteering who will talk about their experience.
What we'll cover:
Finding volunteering opportunities and organisations that are suitable for young people with a vision impairment
Understanding reasonable adjustments and communicating support needs with organisations
Supporting young people to develop self‑advocacy skills and confidence when applying for roles
What to expect:
A supportive space to ask questions and advice
A chance to connect with other parents and carers of post‑16 young people with VI
This session will take place online, and we’ll send you the Zoom details once you’ve registered for the event.
