Farm Finances — Pricing Your Products
Many beginning farmers start by pricing their products based on what others in the market are charging. While this can be a helpful starting point, long-term farm viability requires a deeper understanding of your own costs and how to price for profit.
This workshop will explore the fundamentals of pricing farm products, including how production costs, scale, customer demographics, product differentiation, and personal business values can influence pricing decisions. Together, we’ll discuss practical approaches to determining prices that not only cover expenses but support a thriving farm business.
Participants will have the opportunity to review real pricing examples and reflect on whether current crop choices and market prices are financially sustainable. The session will also touch on broader farm financial considerations and share tools and resources to help farmers build more confident pricing strategies.
