Walktober: FREE Self-Guided Art Tours with Big Art Loop
Four walks. Four weeks. A whole lot of art.
This October, we’re challenging you to get out, get walking, and explore the Big Art Loop - one bite-sized walk at a time.
In partnership with Crosstown Trails, we’ve picked four easy-to-manage stretches of the Loop, each between 1–2 miles and packed with monumental art along the way. Do one on your lunch break, after work, on a weekend morning, or whenever you have a little time to get outside.
Your challenge: Complete all four walks by the end of October. Walk them at your own pace, bring a friend, make a day of it, or squeeze one into your schedule. And, don't forget to share your walks with us on Instagram.

WEEK 1 | October 1–10
Oceanside • 2 miles
Start your Walktober challenge with a stroll through the Sunset Dunes and along Ocean Beach on our Oceanside segment.
START: Unsafe to Swim — Lincoln Way at Great Highway
FINISH: Octavius — Sloat Blvd. at Great Highway

WEEK 2 | October 11–17
Big Art Loop - Portside North • 1 mile
Take a leisurely waterfront walk through the Embarcadero and experience several art works along the way.
START: Pulse Portal — Pier 27
FINISH: Corpus — Pier 14

WEEK 3 | October 18–24
Golden Gate Park • 2 miles
Make your way from the Panhandle into Golden Gate Park, with plenty of art to discover along the route.
START: An Attempted Murder — Baker St. / The Panhandle
FINISH: Naga — Rainbow Falls

WEEK 4 | October 25–31
Big Art Loop - Portside South • 1.5 miles
Finish the challenge with a waterfront walk from the Embarcadero to Crane Cove Park.
START: Atabey’s Treasure — Brannan Street Wharf
FINISH: Dr. Fisherian’s Runaway Machine — Crane Cove Park
