Fables & Parables: A Creative Writing Workshop
🐺 Welcome to the Workshop! 🐷🐷🐷
Fables are short, timeless stories that use simple characters, often animals, plants, or forces of nature, to explore big ideas about human behaviour. They’re playful and often surprisingly powerful, making them a great entry point for writers of any experience level.
In this workshop, we’ll explore what makes a fable work, look at famous examples you might already know, and break down a simple structure you can use to write one of your own. We’ll then spend the majority of the evening writing followed by completely optional read-alouds.
Note: No prior writing experience needed!

The tentative schedule is as follows:
6:00 PM: Settle in
Get comfortable, grab some snacks, and meet fellow attendees.6:30 PM: Intro Lecture on Fables
A short talk on what fables are, how they’re structured, and why they endure.7:15 PM: Open Writing Time
Write your own fable using mix-and-match prompt cards. You can use your laptop or tablet, or try writing it by hand and really let those creative juices flow!8:30 PM: Sharing Time
For folks eager to read their creations aloud.9:00 PM: Wrap up

Do I need writing experience?
No - beginners and experienced writers, creators or storytellers are equally welcome. Part of why I am hosting this event in the first place is to get more people into writing as a hobby, especially if they've always wanted to but never felt encouraged to try!Do I have to read my work?
Nope! Sharing is always optional.What should I bring?
We would ask that you bring something you can comfortably write with (notebook, laptop, tablet, etc.) That said, pens and paper will be provided for those that need it.Will there be any refreshments?
Yes! Your ticket cost covers venue fees, as well as snacks & drinks. Any ticket fees not spent on this workshop will simply be funnelled into our next one.

From micro-weddings to workshops it’s a versatile place for those who love to host. Designed with creativity in mind, the space features soft natural lighting, 2 washrooms, a kitchenette, 13ft ceilings & is a blank canvas.
