About Event

🌿 Slow Social: Yoga & Book Crawl (Cosy Edition)

Our signature slow summer series transitioning into cosy winter Sundays for ambitious, sensitive women craving softer mornings, real connection, and time to simply be.

We spend most of our time on the mat exploring asana, the physical practice.

But there's so much more to yoga than the shapes we make with our bodies.

So each month, we'll explore one of the other limbs through walking, books, conversation, creativity, reflection and everyday life.

Because yoga isn't just something we practise for an hour.

It's something we can explore in the way we move through the world.

As the seasons change, so does our practice. I can't wait to share more about the other limbs of yoga with you!

OCTOBER:

We will start of with a walk into the woods passing through some field and stop along the way for some reflection and exploring Yamas (the first limb of Ashtanga yoga). We will then walk back to the cafe and enjoy some coffee/tea and read our own books under the marquee.

❄️ What is Yoga & Book Crawl Cosy Edition?

A slow monthly gathering for anyone who wants to spend a little less time online and a little more time out in the world.

Each month we'll meet somewhere different and begin with a short, gentle walk, exploring a new corner of the local area as part of our ongoing "crawl."

We'll then pause somewhere along the way to explore that month's theme from the eight limbs of yoga through a simple reflection or journaling prompt.

Bring whatever book you're currently reading and spend some time quietly reading alongside one another — either outdoors when the weather allows, or tucked into a nearby café or coffee shop when the weather calls for something warmer.

There will be conversation.

There will be quiet.

There will probably be coffee.

And there is absolutely no expectation that you have to talk to everyone.

It's connection without the pressure to perform.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga beyond the mat

Every month we'll explore a different idea from the eight limbs of yoga.

Not as another thing to learn perfectly or another self-improvement project.

But as an invitation to get curious about how these ancient ideas might actually show up in our ordinary lives.

One month might have us exploring Svadhyaya — self-study through the books we're drawn to and the things we're curious about.

Another might explore Aparigraha — non-grasping, and what we're ready to stop holding onto.

Another might invite us into Pratyahara — turning our attention inward, perhaps through a quieter, more sensory walk.

The themes will change.

The invitation stays the same:

Slow down enough to notice.

🐛 Why a “crawl”?

Part of the idea behind Yoga & Book Crawl is getting to slowly explore new outdoor spaces together — parks, riversides, quiet corners, and places that might already exist right at your doorstep.

Maybe you’ve walked past them before.
Maybe you’ve never noticed them fully.
Maybe you didn’t even know they were there.

When I first moved to Maidstone, one of the things I loved most was discovering the beautiful outdoor spaces around me — the river walks, song birds, hidden greenery, and wildlife woven into everyday life.

This series is an invitation to experience those spaces differently: more slowly, more intentionally, and in community.

🌸 What to expect

Every gathering will be a little different depending on the location and season, but you'll generally find:

🌿 A short, gentle walk

📖 A monthly theme inspired by the eight limbs of yoga

✍🏽 A simple reflection or journaling prompt

☕ Time to read your own book

🌳 Outdoor reading when the weather allows

☕ A nearby café or coffee shop when it doesn't

💬 Optional conversation and connection

📍 A different local location each month

And most importantly:

No pressure to socialise constantly.

You can chat, listen, and/or wander quietly.

You can read your book.

You can come alone.

You can come with a friend.

You can be somewhere in between.

🌼 Who this is for

This is for you if:

  • you want to spend more time outside and less time constantly online

  • you love books, walking, coffee, nature or a combination of all four

  • you've been craving a slower rhythm to your weekends

  • you want to explore your local area with fresh eyes

  • you enjoy meaningful conversation but don't want to spend an entire event networking

  • you're curious about yoga beyond the physical practice

  • you're trying to create a life that feels more sustainable and less rushed

  • you like the idea of community but also need some quiet

  • you want to meet people without having to perform being social

Especially if you're someone who already catches little glimpses of a slower life...and wants more of it.

You don't need to be a yogi. You don't need to know the eight limbs.

You don't need to be a regular reader. You don't even need to finish the book you've been carrying around for six months. 😂

Come as you are.

This is about exploration, not perfection.
