PRIMEDTime Edinburgh (January)
Join us for our first PRIMEDtime fireside chat with Dr Samuel Casasola Zamora, former postdoc of the Loake lab at the University of Edinburgh Institute of Molecular Plant Sciences, and co-founder of the spin-out Green Bioactives.
Samuel will share his journey from postdoc to spin-out co-founder alongside his PI Prof Gary Loake, and reflect openly on the realities of building a company from academic research. While Green Bioactives is sadly now under liquidation, this makes his story especially valuable — offering honest insights, lessons learned, and reflections for early-career researchers curious about entrepreneurship.
This session is for anyone who has ever wondered:
What does it really take to turn research into a company?
What is it like to found a start-up as a postdoc?
What can we learn when things don’t go as planned?
What is PRIMEDtime?
PRIMEDtime is our monthly informal coffee/tea gathering, designed to create space for open conversation about science, ideas, and impact in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
Come along to listen, ask questions, and be inspired, whether you’re actively thinking about start-ups or just curious about different paths beyond the lab. Light drinks and snacks provided.
