DeFI under MiCA: Shaping the Next Framework
Policy Nexus Table - a forum where policy meets practice
DeFi under MiCA - Shaping the Next Framework
ESMA centralisation, the classification of perpetuals, the DLT Pilot Regime — several issues are in motion under the Market Integration & Supervisory Package at EU level. Against this backdrop, one question remains open: what does a future framework for DeFi look like, and how should it be shaped?
A new MiCA consultation is imminent and the terms of that debate are still being written. The Policy Nexus Table brings together legal practitioners, policy experts, and industry representatives in Vienna for a closed-door, senior-level dialogue on exactly that question.
We will work through three questions:
Does DeFi need to be regulated, and is now the right timing?
Where does the current gap hurt most, and what should the next framework get right?
What are the concrete steps that should happen in the next 12 months?
Format: A structured roundtable under Chatham House Rules – a briefing paper with key takeaways will be published afterwards, without direct quotes or attribution.
Expect bespoke interventions from:
Faustine Fleuret, Global Head of Public Affairs (Morpho)
Juan Ignacio Ibañez, General Secretary (MiCA Crypto Alliance)
Anja Blaj Zajc, Policy Expert (European Ethereum Institute)
