Mississauga+Oakville Bitcoin meetup

​Join us for the monthly Mississauga/Oakville Bitcoin meetup, hosted by Adam.

​We'll hang out and discuss everything bitcoin related ranging from how to get started in bitcoin to more advanced topic like security, privacy and the future of the bitcoin protocol. Bitcoiners of all experience levels are welcome!

​Special Feature:

​BITCOIN LEARNING LAB: How to make your own bitcoin node using an old laptop and a flash drive.

​Adam will be doing an interactive demonstration hands-on lab on how you can turn an old laptop that you have laying around your house into a bitcoin node and use it in a sovereign way.

​I will bring: 6 Laptops 4 Flash Drives

​1 of the laptops will be a Windows installation with the necessary software to learn how to put the StartOS installation on a USB drive. 1 of the laptops will be a fully synchronized bitcoin node with the necessary software to use bitcoin in a sovereign way. 4 of the laptops will be used in the lab to install StartOS on and play around with.

​What we will accomplish:

​Flash a USB drive with StartOS 0.4.0's installation media. Use the USB drive to install StartOS onto a laptop. Connect the laptop to the internet (via Wifi on my mobile hotspot). Install the bitcoin node software and other tools to learn how to install and configure the applications on StartOS. (We will not sync the node). We will use the 1 fully synchronized node to showcase how to configure your phone's wallet to your bitcoin node to preserve privacy (using Tor). We will use the Windows Laptop to connect a wallet software called Sparrow Wallet to the full node (using Tor).
