About Event

Scotland and California are global leaders in quantum technologies, integrated photonics, and advanced engineering — this forum will bring those communities together for a high‑impact day of connection, insight, and opportunity.

This forum will highlight the full spectrum of Scotland–California collaboration opportunities across the value chain — from early‑stage research and proof‑of‑concept development to scale‑up, commercialization, investment, and industry adoption. The event will bring together university researchers, deep‑tech founders, corporate R&D teams, investors, and policy-makers to illuminate where joint projects, bilateral partnerships, talent exchanges, and co‑development pathways will accelerate innovation.

By convening the people who will drive ideas from lab to market, the event will offer a rare, end‑to‑end view of how both ecosystems can leverage one another’s strengths to create new technologies, new companies, and new routes to global impact. Designed for researchers, founders, industry R&D leaders, investors, and government partners, the forum will showcase Scotland’s rapidly expanding strengths across photonics and quantum, while opening new avenues for transatlantic collaboration.

Attendees will hear from leading voices through keynotes, panels, fireside conversations, lightning talks, and a Technology Showcase, all curated to surface opportunities and build momentum. Keynote speakers will include Professor Steve Chu of Stanford University, 1997 Physics Nobel Laureate and former U.S. Secretary of Energy, and Sir Peter Knight, Chair of the UK National Quantum Technology Programme Strategy Advisory Board.

This forum forms part of a wider four‑day programme, with a two‑day photonics symposium taking place on 25–26 March and a dedicated quantum conference on 27 March, offering deeper technical engagement and extended opportunities for collaboration across the Scotland–California ecosystem. This page is solely for registration for the 24 March Forum (Day 1). If you would like to attend the additional programme on 25–27 March, please complete your Day‑1 registration here first; you will then be directed to a separate link for Days 2–4.

Whether you are scouting new research collaborations, mapping industry–academia partnerships, sourcing investment opportunities, or seeking insight into where the next wave of quantum and photonics innovation will emerge, the forum will provide direct access to the people shaping that future.
