โIn May, Mason County gave final approval to rezone 28 properties โ roughly 2,080 acres, more than three square miles of farm and residential land โ for a hyperscale data center campus west of Maysville, near Germantown Road and the AA Highway.
โThe contemplated load is around 2.2 gigawatts. That is an extraordinary amount of power to drop on a rural county of about 17,000 people.
โAnd here is what Mason County still has not been told: who is building it. Officials and landowners signed non-disclosure agreements. The rezoning application was filed by the county's own industrial authority, not by the company. To this day the end user has only ever been described as a Fortune 50 technology company. In the county's own documents, it is called "the prospect."
โThree square miles of Kentucky farmland rezoned for a tenant this community has never been allowed to meet.
