How Food & Bev Brands Get Built
What does it actually take to build something in food and bev? A new series puts two Oakland founders in conversation about the loneliness, the stumbles, and the people who showed up.
Sydney Arkin ditched advertising to make ice cream out of her living room during lockdown, illegally at first. That operation is now Bad Walter’s. Miles Palliser has spent over a decade opening (and closing) food businesses including a sports bar that lost all three of its teams. He co-owns Mama’s Boy Pizza and the Oakland Athletic Club.
Hosted by Margarita Florez Vasconcelos from Showoff and Marisa Sanchez-Dunning from If Only Creative, this series is about the origin stories nobody tells, the people who showed up when it mattered. Conversation, Q&A, then stay for pizza, ice cream, and conversation.
