The Evolution of UX: Learning from the Past, Designing the Future
A Journey Across Generations
How has UX changed over the years? What has stayed the same? And where are we heading next?
Join Ladies That UX Berlin for an online conversation across different generations of UX and Product Design.
We’ll travel from the earlier days of UX and the rise of digital products to today’s rapidly changing, AI-influenced landscape, exploring how the market, skills, tools, teams, workflows, and expectations around designers have evolved along the way.
But we don’t want to talk about UX history through theory alone. We want to hear it through the people who lived it. How the evening will flow
19:00–19:10 · Welcome & getting to know each other
We’ll start casually, introduce Ladies That UX Berlin and the idea behind the evening, and take a few minutes to settle in and get to know each other.
19:10–19:25 · Tara’s story
Tara takes us through her experience of UX, how the industry and profession have transformed, and the lessons she has gathered along the way.
19:25–19:40 · Camilla’s story
Camilla brings another perspective into the conversation, sharing her journey from architecture to Product Design and her experience of working in the field today.
19:40–20:00 · Across generations: What changed? What stayed?
We bring both stories together. How have skills, tools, markets, teams and expectations changed? What has surprisingly remained the same? And what can different generations learn from each other?
20:00–20:25 · The next generation joins the conversation
The floor opens to our community. Junior designers, graduates and career changers are invited to share their own experiences, challenges, questions and hopes.
This isn’t a traditional Q&A. It’s an open exchange between different generations of UX.
20:25–20:30 · Looking forward
We’ll finish with one big question:
Where do we think UX is going next?
AI, new roles, new skills, changing markets and new ways of working, bring your thoughts, hopes, concerns and even your wild predictions.
Meet our speakers
Tara Maria Bosenick
UX Research & AI in UX · UX pioneer since 1999
With a UX career spanning more than two decades, Tara brings the perspective of someone who has experienced the field through many of its transformations. Today, her work focuses particularly on UX Research and the role of AI in UX, helping teams approach AI in user research pragmatically, critically, and without the hype.
Camilla Migliori
Product Designer
Camilla brings another generation and perspective to the conversation, sharing her own journey through Product Design and her experience of working in an industry that is already very different from the one previous generations entered.
Through her story, we’ll explore what it means to be a Product Designer today: the skills designers are expected to bring, how teams and workflows are changing, and what it feels like to build a career while the profession itself is evolving.
And the third speaker? That’s our community.
Rather than choosing one person to represent the junior and fresh-graduate experience, we’re opening that part of the conversation to you.
We want to hear from people entering UX right now: recent graduates, junior designers, career changers, and anyone trying to find their place in the industry.
What does entering UX in 2026 actually feel like? What are you struggling with? What skills are you being asked for? What excites you? What worries you?
Together, we’ll connect where UX has been, where it is today, and where it might be going next.
