An Odd & Wonderful Life
Show up curious. Leave with a path.
Reno and Sparks now have something we've never had before: a single place built for people who want to make things, learn skills, and create the future. The Oddie District, 232,000 square feet of workshops, training, art, and entrepreneurship inside a reborn Lowe's, is that place. And this night is the moment the flywheel starts turning.
Here's how the evening works:
You arrive, grab a drink, and settle in for an inspirational conversation with some of the most remarkable builders of our time, with Q&A to follow: A member of the founding team behind Pokémon GO One of Apple Computer's earliest employees A founding-era voice from Burning Man We're not announcing every name yet. That's the point.
Their stories all share one theme: nobody's path is a straight line. And then the night turns to yours. After the ribbon burning, the building opens up into food, drinks, live music, games, and a room full of partner organizations whose entire job is to help you find your fit. Declare a pathway on the spot: learn a trade, start an apprenticeship, explore a degree, join a maker project, launch a company, find a mentor.
NTI, NevadaWorks, The Generator, the University of Nevada, Reno, and more will be there to connect you to your next step that night, not someday. And the first steps are funded for some of you. The Nazir and Mary Ansari Foundation is providing scholarships for young people pursuing workforce pathways, with awards announced live at the event.
This is for everyone: high schoolers figuring out what's next, parents planning alongside them, career-changers, founders, artists, and retirees with one more thing to build. You're invited. The doors are wide open.
The evening:
- 4:30 PM Doors open Drinks, food, music

- 6:00 PM Ribbon burning + pathway declarations begin
- 6:15 PM Entrepreneur Playground opens (18+ team pitch competition)
