Built to Scale: Turning an Academic Project into a Robotics Startup – with Megi Mejdrechová
We’re starting our Built to Scale: From Prototype to Business series with Megi Mejdrechová, Co-Founder and CTO of RoboTwin – a Czech startup helping people teach robots through simple demonstrations instead of complex programming.
Megi’s journey began as a master’s thesis at Czech Technical University. What started as an experiment in motion tracking became a way to make industrial automation more accessible for everyday workers. Along the way, her team faced the same hurdles every young company does — testing ideas, finding the right partners, and learning how to turn a promising prototype into something customers can actually use.
Earlier this year, RoboTwin raised €1.25M in pre-seed funding from investors and EU support. Megi will share what it was like to prepare for those investor conversations, what worked (and what didn’t) during fundraising, and the advice she’d give to other founders going through the same process. We’ll also talk about what’s next for RoboTwin – from improving their no-code robotics platform to expanding into new markets – and the lessons Megi is carrying forward from her journey so far.
This event is also about bringing together a community of hardware startup founders, VC funds, and corporates who share an interest in turning great prototypes into sustainable businesses. Whether you’re building, investing, or partnering, we hope these conversations will inspire collaboration and spark new ideas.
If you’re curious about robotics, product development, or simply the human side of building something from scratch, you’ll enjoy this story.
