​The 2023 Netflix award-winning drama "Wave Makers” depicts the lives of political staffers in Taiwan’s “vibrant” democracy. Not only was it a milestone for Taiwanese pop culture tackling political material, it sparked Taiwan’s #MeToo movement where many silenced individuals publicly came forward with their stories. Hear directly from screenwriter Nina Peng about her inspiration for the drama, her own experience as a political staffer, and how she sees the long-term impact the drama ended up having in real life. As the U.S. focuses on Taiwan more than ever, this rare first-hand glimpse inside Taiwan's inner political psyche is not to be missed.
