When Intelligence Becomes Too Cheap
When Intelligence Becomes Too Cheap
The Futures Room · Session 03
A draft, an analysis, a piece of code: you may already be able to produce work with AI in minutes that once took hours. Deciding what deserves your effort can become harder as those tools improve.
This workshop explores a possibility: if useful cognitive (knowledge) work becomes much cheaper and more widely available, where might value move?
We’ll examine a role or field you know, distinguish the tasks that could become easier from the outcomes that remain difficult, and investigate the importance of trust, judgment, access, and responsibility in that particular setting.
You’ll leave with understanding exactly how quickly you can build something with AI that would take months without these tools. See the power of creating something with friends who hold specific roles rather than doing it alone. Outcomes over abstract ideas.
Bring an example of work you do, commission, or hope to do. You can also use a prepared example. No economics or technical background is needed.
Evening flow
6:00 PM: Arrive and choose a role or field to explore.
6:10 PM: A short introduction to tasks, outcomes, and bottlenecks.
6:25 PM: Map how work gets done and who it serves.
6:45 PM: Identify what could become cheaper and what may remain difficult.
7:05 PM: Short break.
7:10-8:25 PM: Group project - build something useful quickly with AI tools you couldn't do before
8:25–8:30 PM: Closing reflections.
Joining the series
This session focuses on a role or industry and the value it creates. It uses a workflow and bottleneck analysis rather than the personal decision or identity exercises from the other workshops. You can join this evening without attending another session.
